Pure Lotions

Pure tanning lotions are combinations of ingredients that have no “tingle factor” ingredients associated. They contained no additional bronzers or menthol, and thus are recommended for use if you have sensitive skin that may react to the “tingle” ingredients. Pure tanning lotions usually contain a short list of active ingredients along with moisturizers. The difference between outdoor tanning lotions and indoor tanning lotions is that there is no “SPF” in any indoor lotion. They do not inhibit ultraviolet rays and therefore do not hinder the tanning process. They are primarily moisturizers with a few “boosting” ingredients that assist your tan in developing faster.

The typical ingredients found in indoor tanning lotions are L-Tyrosine and melanin. There are usually other common ingredients as well like green tea extract or natural oils and sometimes copper (although amounts are going to vary dramatically from brand to brand.) Additionally, indoor tanning lotions are usually formulated of ingredients that will not damage acrylic surfaces like outdoor tanning lotions that contain mineral oil, or baby oil will. Some pure lotions have a fragrance as an ingredient, many people enjoy them and find there to be aromatherapy benefits and calming effects when they’re worn inside of the tanning bed.

The primary purpose for an indoor tanning lotion is to moisturize the skin and keep its soft and supple during the process. It is necessary to compensate for moisture lost during tanning because both indoor and outdoor tanning dehydrates the skin. Indoor tanning lotions contain ingrediants specifically designed for indoor tanners. Many of the indoor tanning lotions utilize hempseed oil as the moisturizer due to the fact that it is high in fatty acids and works very well to keep moisture in and maintain the tan.
