Hot Action Lotions

“Hot action” tanning lotions are also called “tingle tanners” because they are specialized indoor tanning lotions that contain ingredients which increase blood flow at the level of the skin. These ingredients are usually a combination of Methyl Nicotinate and Benzyl Nicotinate, which when applied to the skin surface increase the microcirculation and blood flow, allowing for a more effective distribution of skin nutrients found in the lotion as well as naturally on your skin surface.

The term “tingle” refers to the fact that most people who wear a lotion of this kind will experience some sort of tingling sensation due to the increased circulation. It will also cause a flushing of the skin and a surface redness. The effect of the tangle usually lasts from 45 minutes to an hour after application. Tingle tanners are oftentimes combined with bronzers or other formulations creating specific types of lotions that have specific effects like hot bronzers or cool bronzers (lotions with menthol.)

There is no official scale that can judge the tangle effect because each person’s skin will react differently. Both Australian Gold and Swedish Beauty offer ratings on their bottles that will give consumers a more exact idea of what to expect, however if these scales are not industry standard and can not be applied to other companies’ products.
